Gamescom Latam: "With no E3, we're the biggest games event in the Americas"
The first ever Gamescom Latam is off to a strong start in São Paulo, Brazil, with over 100,000 consumers and some of the biggest companies in games in attendance.Announced earlier this year, the event is the result of a merger between Gamescom and the long-running Brazil Indie Games Festival (or BIG Festival). It opened with a business-only day yesterday (Wednesday, June 26) and runs through Sunday, July 30.Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at the show today, Gamescom Latam CEO Gustavo Steinberg said the show has already doubled in size compared to its predecessor; while around 50,000 people attended last year, the organisers expect more than 100,000 players to visit the São Paulo Expo Centre this week.
