4-star WR Naeshaun Montgomery talks official visits, commitment timeline
Over 30 Power Four programs have offered West Palm Beach (Fla.) Miami Central four-star wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery throughout his recruitment.
After continuing to go through his process this spring, the 6-foot-1, 165-pounder is beginning to narrow things down — and could come off the board sooner rather than later.
“I’m thinking about committing before the season, so I’m just trying to see, take all of my visits and see what school is best for me,” Montgomery told On3 at OT7 on Thursday.
Montgomery kicked off his official visit slate with a trip to Florida over the weekend. He’ll take an official to LSU on June 14, then head to Penn State the following weekend. Alabama and Florida State could also receive OVs, though they likely won’t come until the fall.
Florida set the bar high for Montgomery
Gators receivers coach Billy Gonzales has led UF’s charge for Montgomery. The blue-chipper was in Gainesville this spring and quickly returned for his official just a few days ago. That visit set the standard that Montgomery will be looking for as he takes upcoming officials.
“The energy from the moment I stepped on the campus to leaving,” Montgomery said of what stood out about the visit. “How engaged Coach (Billy) Napier was and Coach Billy Gonzales. All the players just welcomed me, letting me know that that’s a great school.”
The message from Florida? Come play early and make an impact in The Swamp.
“I’m a priority for them and I can definitely be a game-changer as a freshman and work with DJ Lagway,” he said. “They’ve always been high, but it definitely put them up another notch.”
Montgomery talks LSU, PSU, Bama
Development and finding the best feel will be crucial in Montgomery’s college decision. His remaining OVs will also help put things into perspective as he gears up for his senior season. Montgomery also talked LSU, Penn State and Alabama with On3:
LSU: “I’ve been hearing they’re receiver-U. They had guys like Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase and they’re definitely big on development, developing receivers, so that’s definitely a big thing for me.”
PSU: “Really like the relationship I have with Coach (Ja’Juan) Seider and Coach (James) Franklin and mainly all the staff there. They just make it feel like home every time I go there.”
Bama: “The message set for me is I can get developed there with Ryan Williams and a few guys over there and really get better.”
Montgomery is the No. 243 overall prospect and No. 35 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 35 player in Florida.
