“I’m sad he wasn’t Wapol”: Netflix Missed Golden Opportunity to Make Iñaki Godoy’s Dream Come True With Casting Danny DeVito in One Piece Season 2
The One Piece live-action season 2 casting has started, and fans have received a lot of new surprises in the form of actors who have joined the adventures of Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus. With actors like Clive Russell as Crocus and David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, the series is getting ready for another banging season that will most probably be a success.

Although the cast is indeed interesting and the creators of One Piece live-action season 2 did a great job in selecting the actors for the roles, the fans are a little disappointed as after the first season, they had some other actors in mind who, according to the fanbase, would have been a better choice for these roles.
In fact, not only the One Piece fanbase but also the actors in Season 1, Iñaki Godoy, who plays Luffy, and Jacob Romero, who plays Usopp, had one actor in mind for the role of Wapol that has now been assigned. The actor that Godoy and Romero wanted for Wapol’s role was Danny DeVito, but it looks like their dream won’t come true.
Iñaki Godoy’s Love for Danny DeVito
Iñaki Godoy was one of the best cast members in One Piece live-action season 1. Fans were happy that Luffy’s role was done justice by the actor. He got a lot of love and appreciation from the One Piece fanbase, and soon after the first season, fans started demanding the second season to see the actor’s performance as Luffy once again.

However, while fans were excited to see Godoy, the actor wanted DeVito to join the cast of One Piece live-action season 2. In an interview with Deadline during the Hollywood Red Carpet premiere of Avatar: The Last Bender, both Godoy and Jacob Romero shared their love for DeVito and asked him to join One Piece.

Netflix Might Have Missed the Opportunity to Cast Danny DeVito in One Piece
As the second season of One Piece live-action will follow the Alabasta saga, many fans believe that the perfect role for DeVito would be that of Wapol, the former monarch of the Drum Kingdom. He would have fit perfectly for the role, but the character has already been assigned to Rob Colletti from The Many Saints of Newark.

Danny Devito would be a good pick for Wapol, even though I hate the character and I really like Danny Devito

Danny Devito would have been the perfect Wapol. But the shop has sailed
Danny DeVito not being cast as Wapol has indeed come as a shock to One Piece fans but there is still a chance that the actor could make a cameo as another character and could fulfill not only One Piece fans’ but Godoy’s dream as well.
