Intel says 13th and 14th Gen CPU instability is officially resolved
Intel has officially confirmed that the 0x12B microcode update that motherboard manufacturers have already released will be the final mitigation for the instability of the 13th and 14th Generation Core CPUs. The company has assured that no further upgrades will be provided, marking the conclusion of its efforts to tackle these issues.
The 0x12B update, which encompasses 0x125 and 0x129 microcode updates, addresses elevated voltage requests by the processor during idle and light activity periods. This prevents the so-called “Vmin Shift” issue, which Intel has confirmed as the root cause of all the problems (via The Verge).
Concerns remain about previously affected CPUs, as Intel has not developed software to determine whether a CPU is impacted and requires replacement. Despite earlier recommendations for consumers to contact Intel customer support for potential replacements, the lack of a comprehensive solution for affected CPUs remains a lingering issue.
On a positive note, Intel has stated that the increased voltage problem will not affect future desktop or mobile processors, assuring that the upcoming Core Ultra 200 series should not encounter similar issues.
