Austin Dillon Lets Slip Kyle Busch’s 5-Word Message After Richmond Destruction

The Richmond Raceways are on everyone’s minds because of one man, Austin Dillon. It seems like the entire racing community, from racers to fans, can’t get over how Austin managed to seal a playoff spot for himself. The winner of Cook Out 400 has divided the community into two parts: One, blaming the 34-year-old for irresponsible and rash driving. The other? Hailing his win. The controversy doesn’t seem to end anytime soon.
After provocative words from Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, and Bubba Wallace, it is now time for Austin Dillon to reply to some of his rivals’ points. While doing so, Austin also took the liberty to reveal the breathtaking message he received from his colleague at Richard Childress Racing, Kyle Busch.
Kyle Busch’s rare gem of a message for Austin Dillon
It is now no surprise that Austin Dillon is facing the heat of the moment from all sides. Thrashed by fellow Cup Series racers and attacked by rival fanbases, there is little that the former Daytona 500 winner can do about it. In the midst of all the heat and hate, there comes a message of hope and optimism from Kyle Busch. The 39-year-old, who is also a teammate of Dillon and a good friend, is probably one of the few remaining racers yet to pick a side in the matter. The Richard Childress Racing ace driver emerged as a soothing figure for Dillon in dark times.

Following the race, Austin Dillon was talking to Dale Earnhardt Jr. for Dirty Mo Media. He shares the beautiful words Kyle Busch said to him after he won the race in a controversial manner. Sharing the contents of the message, Austin said, “He leaned down in the window, and I said ‘man I got wild’ and he said it didn’t matter you won it either way. He said you were the best car, and you dominated which means a lot to me.” Through these motivational words, Kyle Busch did manage to lift the spirits of Austin Dillon. It would’ve also added to the emotional support he so desperately needs to face the scathing attacks after the race.”
Austin is now determined to help Kyle Busch qualify for the playoffs too. Dillon talked about the prospects of Busch getting a place in the playoffs and his abilities as a race car driver. “We got to do everything we can to help Kyle get to victory lane to get playoff spot as well. And Kyle is one of those that you just got to respect because of his commitment to winning at all costs just like all the great race car drivers. He’s had a frustrating season for his standards as well and we all feel that at RCR and we’ve got to get him to where he’s capable of and that’s running in the top 5 and winning races each and every week and hopefully, we can start that momentum now.” Dillon said.
Austin Dillon is currently in the middle of a lot of heat from fellow Cup Series drivers. Particularly from Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing. The owner of 23XI Racing demanded better officiating standards from NASCAR after the incident. He even went as far as calling Dillon’s move a deliberate attempt to spin cars and win the race. He also alleged that Dillon received the instructions to do so from his team on the radio. This is, however, vehemently denied by Dillon. Deliberately or not, the bottom line is that with Austin securing a playoff spot, there are only 3 tickets left before the end of the regular season.
With 3 races to go, will Kyle Busch manage to go to the playoffs?
The Richard Childress Racing is already in the playoffs. Austin Dillon will be representing the team. However, what remains to be seen is whether the other full-time driver at RCR, Kyle Busch, will make it. The 2015 and 2019 Cup Series winner will hope to beat all the odds against him as he faces an uphill battle against Bubba Wallace and rookie Ty Gibbs. Austin Cindric is also attempting his level best to match the three drivers above him. With so many drivers in contention, the playoffs appear to be anyone’s game for now.

This season is particularly unenthusiastic for the 39-year-old. 2024 is marked by a streak of average performances and injuries for Busch. But Kyle Busch’s abilities are, without a doubt, a class apart on any given day. Therefore, the RCR ace racer cannot be ignored as a contender for the play-off spot. After the regular season, it’s anyone’s game as far as winning the cup is concerned. What are your thoughts on the Austin Dillon-Kyle Busch camaraderie? Do you think Busch has what it takes to make it to the playoffs this year? Do let us know in the comments.
