Dave Portnoy rips 'joke' SEC after Florida State's stunning opening win over Alabama

By ERIC BLUM,
Barstool boss could not wait to unload on the Southeastern Conference from his new college-football vantage point, ripping the 'joke' of a league after Alabama's stunning loss to Florida State.
Portnoy debuted as an analyst for 'Big Noon Kickoff' on Fox, with the Big Ten Conference's biggest game of the day taking place directly following the show.
The 48-year-old has been a huge Michigan fanboy for years, and did not mind twisting the knife into one of the juggernauts from the most dominant conference in college football.
'I told everybody who would listen FSU was easy money. The SEC is a joke,' Portnoy said on X.
Florida State is coming off a 2-10 season, one of the worst in the history of the gridiron blue blood, with the No 8-ranked team seen as a national-title contender heading into the matchup.
What appeared to be a resume-builder for the Crimson Tide has now taken away most of their safety net to reach the College Football Playoff.

The jab came after Alabama was handed an upset at the hands of unraked Florida State
Alabama's dominant ways may be a thing of the past with Kalen DeBoer leading the team 19 months after Nick Saban's retirement. Portnoy was not the only one in sports media to take a jab at the Crimson Tide.
'I’m sorry folks. I really am. But it just seems to be as if the days of @AlabamaFTBL - Nick Saban’s @AlabamaFTBL — is looooonnngggg gone,' Stephen A Smith said on social media.
'Sacks surrendered. Dropped passes. A QB who’s not a real scrambler/runner, and doesn’t appear to have a strong enough arm to throw on the run. Maybe this turnover by (Jaylin) Lucas of @FloridaState, but I doubt it.'
Florida State won 31-17, beating the pregame spread by 27.5 points, with Alabama losing its third game in its last four, dating back to the end of last season.
Portnoy was not allowed into Ohio Stadium for the Buckeyes victory over No 1 Texas, the only other loss during the weekend for the SEC.
The conference stands overall at 13-2 from college football's opening weekend, with South Carolina still to play.
Alabama's schedule lightens a bit next week, facing Louisiana-Monroe, before looking to have a stiff test almost every game for the remainder of the season. '
It could be a long year in Tuscaloosa, and if it is, Portnoy's takedowns of the Crimson Tide will only become more vicious.
