Bryce Harper suffers painful injury and admits ‘I haven’t felt anything like it before’ as Phillies fans ‘pray he’s OK’
PHILADELPHIA star Bryce Harper is sweating on the results of a hamstring scan after limping out of Thursday’s game with the Miami Marlins.
The 31-year-old slugger was injured in the ninth inning of the 7-4 MLB loss at Citizens Bank Park.

Harper collapsed to the floor after feeling his left hamstring tighten on the final play of the game.
The first baseman immediately headed down the tunnel and didn’t wait for the result of a review against a groundout that ended the game.
“It hurts,” Harper told reporters following the loss, via ESPN.
“I felt my hammy a little bit [on the play].
“We’re going to get an image tomorrow just to see what that looks like and see how I feel and go from there.
“If I had something to go back on, I would let you know,
“But I’ve never felt anything like this before.”
The Phillies are already struggling with a crowded injury room.
Shortstop Trea Turner remains sidelined for six weeks, while catcher JT Realmuto is on the injured list.
“Can’t have a season without some bad luck,” sighed one Phillies fan on X.
“Just pray he is OK,” said another.
“Lower hammy cramps come easier as we age…Hopefully he just pushed a little too hard there and momentarily cramped!” commented a third.
“They legit are about to be without Bryce, Schwarber and Realmuto for multiple weeks. Thank god they built an 8 game lead,” gasped a fourth.
Kyle Schwarber also suffered an injury in last night’s game, feeling a tightness in his groin after making a throw.
“I reached down to grab the ball barehanded and kind of planted for the throw and felt it grab,” Schwarber said.
“I thought it was just a cramp at first and I finished the inning. But, as I was running in [between innings] I could still kind of feel it, so I talked to the trainer and he didn’t like where the spot was.
“So he wanted to get me out of there.”
Thursday’s loss drops the Phillies to 53-28 in the MLB season.
They are currently top of the NL East, 8 games ahead of the Atlanta Braves.
Game 2 of the series begins on Friday at 6.20 pm ET.
