Hit the vid for the Daily Catch at Sunset Marina!
We had another killer day of flounder fishing out of Yarmouth, Massachusetts today while fishing with Captain Gordie on the Katie B. We had another limit of fish with some real studs in the mix once again. We had several fish between 5 and 8 pounds, and Mike added an 11 pounder while Zach added a 12.65 pounder. I can't wait to get home, but I already can't wait to come back up here!
There was some pretty good yellowfin tuna fishing out of Ocean City today with some very big fish being landed. The crew of the RoShamBo with Captain Willie Zimmerman had a great day of tuna fishing today.
The crew of the Pumpin' Hard out of Sunset Marina had a nice day with five yellowfin tuna.
The crew of Boss Hogg with Captain Alex Beane had a good day catching a yellowfin tuna and a 150 pound bluefin tuna.
These huge yellowfin tuna were weighed in at Sunset Marina this afternoon by the private boat Full Service.
Earl Dubios landed this big 27.5", 6.2 pound flounder using a modified Deadly Double in white while fishing on the Bay Bee with Captain Wes Jackson.
Bob Pino of Hook Optics Sunglasses found a keeper rockfish fishing at the OC Inlet today.
Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing is burning the candle at both ends nowadays and his customers are enjoying good shooting for cow nosed and southern rays.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had some decent fishing on today's trip to the rip.
Having not gotten far, some of the tuna fleet were already returning to the marina before we tied her loose this morning. Clearing the inlet. however, I found conditions pleasant despite yesterday's evening wind.
Sure didn't mean it couldn't be worse offshore.
Was.
While we ambled on offshore there was a fair stream of boats coming back in.
Uh oh.
Though winds stayed well below twenty for us, I got thinking about a trip in 1994 when I brought a sold out boat back in. Weather was calm - and I do mean calm calm - just a few miles off. Then, at Great Gull Shoal just 5 miles out?
Ripping.
NNE 30.
Seas instantly becoming dangerous, I headed back into calm water and then for home.
That beautiful 90ft boat wasn't mine. I was just the nut behind the wheel. Boss was none too happy with me coming back in while the giant Shantytown flag lay against its staff. A 50ft sportboat was dispatched to check - and confirm - my findings.
Only time I've ever seen the line so well defined, but there it was.
We had 15/16 knot winds from the SSW all day.
Natalie & Noah dropped a 24 block reef unit at Rambler Reef. Soon after we began fishing.
Long time regular, Russell would be high hook with 9 while Ohio Ed took today's pool money.
