Woman, 72, Charged In Hit-And-Run That Killed 2 Kids: Sarasota Police

SARASOTA, FL — A 72-year-old Sarasota woman was arrested Monday on charges related to a February hit-and-run crash that killed two young children and critically injured their mother, authorities said. June Fenton was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a traffic crash resulting in a fatality and one county of leaving the scene of a traffic crash resulting in serious injury, according to a Sarasota Police Department news release.The crash, involving a Lexus and a family crossing the road, happened Feb. 10 around 8:30 p.m. on N. Washington Boulevard near 7th Street in Sarasota. After “a thorough investigation,” both the Lexus and the driver were found, the department said.The vehicle was recovered by police and a search warrant was executed to confirm that evidence collected from the crash site matched the car. Fenton fully cooperated with the investigation, police added. She remains in custody at Sarasota County Jail."We appreciate the patience and support shown by the community during this investigation.
