‘American Idol’ Fans Can’t Understand The Hate For One Contestant

When it comes to American Idol, contestants can have their critics, both off and on the show. However, they also have their defenders. Recently, fans have come out defending one contestant in particular, who really proved to win over fans after their initial impression. Some are even trying to analyze why other fans don’t seem to like the contestant.
Contestants Can Often Turn Things Around On American Idol
American Idol has recently returned for Season 23. Fans have seen familiar faces like Ryan Seacrest, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and even a former contestant, Carrie Underwood, become a new judge.
Of course, this also comes with a whole new list of contestants. While some came in quickly becoming fan favorites, one contestant in particular gradually began to win over fans as weeks went by.

As previously reported, Josh King had his critics early on, but fans are starting to come to his defense. On social media, one fan recently wrote, “If Josh King has no fans, I am deceased.”
The fan continued, I’ve seen a lot of people not loving Josh this season, and I just can’t wrap my head around it. Josh is my favorite of the season! I loved him from auditions and tonight’s performance was no exception.”
Many Fans Compared Josh King To Earlier Contestants On The Show
“I’m having a hard time connecting with the other contestants this year and I just had to put it out there. The second Josh releases an album, I will stream it on repeat 24/7 lol!”
The fan released a call to action, asking other commenters on what their thoughts were. As they wrote, “What is everyone’s opinion? Who else is a Josh King stan here?”
A few fans compared King to other similar musicians. That said, even a few commenters that weren’t fans of King began to realize why they might not like his singing. Some comments included:
“He is definitely a memorable contestant week after week, he sticks out in my mind even though he’s not my favorite contestant. He sounds like Michael Bublé.”
“I love this! He definitely is memorable (Rick rolled us, harmonica, his dedication to his mom with You are So Beautiful). I agree he sounds like Michael Bublé and he just has such a beautiful and natural voice.”
“This is why I don’t like his voice, I hate Michael Bublé He’s a cute kid though and definitely talented.”
“He reminds me of old school idol contestants.”
“I think he picked the wrong season or he should go to The Voice.”
“I adore Josh and prefer his simple voice over all of the ‘runners’ this season. It’s a nice change! Seems super humble and vulnerable and I love his tone. I’ve voted for him every LIVE round so far.”
“He’s the kid that made it so compelling years ago. He’s Carrie, Fantasia, Clay, Rueben, maybe not the same level of vocals, but not terribly sophisticated.”
