COVENTRY, RI — Briar Point Beach in Coventry has reopened Thursday after being closed due to high levels of bacteria, the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) said.RIDOH officials said high bacteria levels made swimming unsafe and caused Tuesday's closure, but bacteria levels have since returned to normal.RIDOH officials said they will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout summer.The status of a beach may change as new data become available.
