SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for southern Connecticut on Sunday due to the chance of severe thunderstorms and a heat advisory. The National Weather Service said between 2-11 p.m. Sunday there is a chance for a severe thunderstorm and a flood threat. Potential impacts as outlined by the National Weather Service: Damaging Winds: Wind gusts of 58 mph or greater could damage trees and powerlines and result in scattered power outages.Localized flash flood threat if multiple storms move over the same area, with rainfall rates of 1 to 2”/hr.Brief tornado or two possible, best chance for northern areas.Localized large hail to 1 inch in diameter could result in minor damage to motor vehicles. Best chances for northern areas. Additionally, a heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. for most of southern Connecticut as it will feel as hot as 99 degrees in certain areas.
