Chaotic Police Chase Through LA Tied To Follow-Home Burglary: Police
LOS ANGELES — An SUV involved in a chaotic chase Wednesday through Orange and Los Angeles counties is also tied to a follow-home burglary in Rancho Cucamonga, according to authorities.Deputies were called around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday about a person who had taken out $2,000 at a Chase bank and gone to a relative’s home in Rancho Cucamonga, where they heard their car alarm go off and discovered a broken window and the money, as well as their wallet, missing, Public Information Officer Gloria Huerta said.Deputies later learned the victim had been followed by the burglar, and, on Wednesday, a San Bernardino County crime analyst saw the same vehicle — an Audi with a stolen plate out of Riverside — was involved in a police chase in Costa Mesa, according to Huerta.An officer stopped the vehicle around 9:40 a.m. in the area of Edinger Avenue and Interstate 55, Costa Mesa police said, adding the driver immediately surrendered but the passenger took the driver’s seat and fled.A 35-year-old man from Houston was arrested without incident, but the chase continued for several hours through Los Angeles County, including West Los Angeles, with the SUV traveling recklessly and occasionally on the wrong side of the street, until the vehicle was lost, according to police.A person later found the SUV abandoned in Los Angeles and contacted authorities, police said.City News Service contributed to this story.The article Chaotic Police Chase Through LA Tied To Follow-Home Burglary: Police appeared first on Los Angeles, CA Patch.
