Why 'The Challenge' was not on this week?
The MTV reality series won't be airing this week. Here's when you can watch a new episode.

There's a lot to be thankful for in The Challenge 40. Even over three months in, it's still surreal to watch old-school legends and new-school faces interact in the same house. As the "Battle of the Eras" theme had truly run its course, the game burst wide open by going individual. And the new structure has set up two warring sides of the house, as everyone is scrapping for a spot in the upcoming final.
Unfortunately, fans will have to take a week off of The Challenge to show their gratitude in a different way. That's because the veteran MTV reality series will not be airing an episode this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Though the show has settled into airing Wednesday nights the past few years, it seems that the network feels that people will be too busy either traveling to their respective celebrations, or getting an early kick-off to the proceedings. As such, they opted to skip the week.

The one-week hiatus allows all of us to take a breath before we start barreling towards the endgame of the season. With the recent elimination of Josh Martinez, only eleven players remain. In the latest seasons, the final has started with as few as eight players and as many as ten, so we could possibly see the last stretch begin as soon as the end of next episode.
Even if there's only a couple of weeks left pre-final, there's still plenty of excitement to take in. At the end of last episode, Aviv Melmed, Jenny West, and Michele Fitzgerald were all made targets. That means we could see Michele continue her underdog run, getting sent into her fourth elimination to face off against the "Bananas' Angels" alliance. Or, if Aviv's penalty is too massive to overcome, and the wrong man wins the daily, the alliance itself could be forced to go against each other in the sand. But even more important than who goes into elimination is who survives, as they could possibly name the final set of male targets, putting half the guys in jeopardy on losing out on their share of the $1 million prize.
We'll have to wait another seven days before we find out what happens next on The Challenge 40. But here's hoping that everyone's Thanksgiving celebration isn't as messy, dramatic, or physical as a typical episode inside the house!
