Denton Diablos FC Defeats West Texas FC 3-1
By Denton Diablos FC
If you would have believed the weather reports, there was no way that this game would be played. But the clouds of thunder and lightning were parted, and it provided an absolutely amazing backdrop for what was, by far, the most dominant performance of the Diablos’ young season.
On the back of a Maycol Reyes set piece curler that kissed off the inside of the post in the eighth minute, the Diablos never looked back. Eduardo Cerna provided a brace that stretched across the first and second halves. He picked up first first goal on a breakaway in the 40th minute before collecting another in the 75th minute when he danced his way through multiple defenders before curling in the far post dagger.
West Texas FC would not go quietly into the night, taking home a consolation goal from Oliver Correa in the 93rd minute.
The Diablos move to 2W-0L-1D on the season, sitting at 2.3 points per game and in third place in the conference.
