She Brought Her Pug To Trader Joe’s And The Pet Peed On $400 Of Frozen Food Items
As someone who owns a small dog that I love as if he were my child, I understand the urge to want to bring your dog with you everywhere you go.
However, like many other responsible dog owners, I realize that’s not possible, and I should respect establishments’ rules that state no dogs are allowed.
One TikTok user recently received a lot of backlash from people on the internet after she shared the story of how her pet pug peed on frozen food at Trader Joe’s after she brought him on her grocery trip and sat him in her cart.
A TikTok creator named Harper, who has since deleted her account and viral video, has an adorable black pug named Hamilton that she is clearly very attached to.
However, she’s also been accused of being extremely entitled, as some viewers deemed her video about the Trader Joe’s incident a little too casual and light-hearted.
In her video, Harper describes taking Hamilton to her local Trader Joe’s for a shopping trip.
“I let him ride in the front of the cart because it’s so cute [and] he’s like a little baby,” says Harper.
Harper then explains that while she wasn’t looking, Hamilton started peeing in the frozen food section of Trader Joe’s, getting it all over several boxes of fish sticks, some chicken drumsticks, and chicken tenders. Harper says that an entire frozen freezer case had been covered in Hamilton’s pee.
A Trader Joe’s employee stared at Harper, shocked for a while before she and the store ultimately decided she needed to pay for all the boxes of food Hamilton contaminated, adding up to around $400.

“Trader Joe’s, we are very, very sorry,” says Harper at the end of her video. The ‘we’ she was referring to equated to her and Hamilton.
“We won’t be coming to that one. We’re going to drive a little bit farther.”
Many of Harper’s viewers were angry with her video, as her apology not only seemed ingenuine, but she also implied that she would continue to take Hamilton to the grocery store, simply avoiding the one the accident occurred in.
One of those viewers was TikTok user Mollie (@meatymollie), whose response video to Harper’s incident went viral.
“Call me crazy, but I don’t actually think it’s that cute to take your un-toilet-trained dog and sit them somewhere that is meant for a human child,” says Mollie.
“The fact that tiny little dog had enough time to pee absolutely everywhere tells me this girl was not paying nearly enough attention to [him]. If you’re going to bring your dog somewhere they do not belong, the absolute least you could do is keep an eye on them.”
Mollie expresses more frustration that Harper didn’t seem remorseful enough for the Trader Joe’s employees who were burdened with the task of cleaning up after her dog because of a poor choice she made to bring him inside the store. She also felt that Harper buying the food her dog ruined wasn’t enough of a compromise.
TikTok users commented on Mollie’s video, agreeing with her sentiments and reminding viewers that dogs that aren’t trained service dogs should only be taken into stores where they’re clearly welcomed.
“My dog is my heart and soul,” commented one TikTok user. “I’m one of those people who refers to him as my kid. But I know not to bring him into places he literally does not belong [in].”
So remember folks: while it’s understandable to want to take your dog everywhere, they should only be taken to places that label themselves pet-friendly.
