While scrolling through Facebook (and actively fighting my desire to post responses to misinformation) I occasionally run across a breath of fresh air provided by Jun Fuentes. He oversees a school just north of Baguio City in the Philippines called Heritage Bible College — not to be confused with Heritage Christian University in Alabama, Heritage Christian University College in Ghana or the many, many other Heritages out there.
Brother Fuentes posts videos Heritage Bible College students singing a cappella hymns. The most recent one I stumbled across is “Nature’s Voice” by Mike Yost, arranged by A. Robison.
Facebook videos don’t tend to embed as easily as YouTube videos, but let’s give this a try:
I’m not familiar with this hymn, but I found the sheet music for it here. Following are the lyrics. (Props to the lyricist for using the word “reinforcing” in a hymn! I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen that before.)
When the rivers run, when shines the sun,
we can clearly see the masterpiece of God.
When the moonlight glows, when blooms the rose,
there can be no doubt it was God who made it all.
When the breezes blow, when falls the snow,
autumn leaves make way for a blanket frosty white.
When the songbirds sing in early spring,
it’s a melody reinforcing God’s design.
When the oceans roar, waves reach the shore,
it’s the pow’r of God’s creation on display
In the setting sun, when the day is done,
an array of color takes my breath away.
