With Bad Boys: Ride or Die hitting the theaters soon, its early box office prediction is in. Following a mediocre May to start Hollywood’s summer, people wonder if things would be better from June onwards. As a result, all eyes are set on Bad Boys: Ride or Die’s projections for the opening weekend. So, read more to know if Bad Boys: Ride or Die will be a huge hit at the box office or a complete bust.
How much is Bad Boys: Ride or Die predicted to make at the box office?
Sony is banking on the fourth Bad Boys outing starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as it is estimated to open as strongly as its predecessor. Per Box Office Pro’s long-range prediction, Bad Boys: Ride or Die will open somewhere between $55-75 million domestically.
In contrast, Bad Boys for Life generated $62.5 million in revenue during its first three days of operation and completed its domestic run with $206 million in the bank. Sony immediately gave the go-ahead for another payment because of its $426 million global total.
Will Bad Boys Ride or Die flop or succeed?
Bad Boys: Ride or Die’s production budget isn’t known yet. But given that Bad Boys for Life cost $90 million, Sony might have allocated a comparable sum for the impending sequel as well. Therefore, it might be successful if it generates as much revenue as the last venture.
The opening estimates for Ride or Die do hint at the likeliness of its success. However, there is no word on its international prospects at the time of writing.
It’s also worth noting that despite the support of critics, the summer box office has continued to perform lower than initial estimates, with the likes of Furiosa, IF, and The Fall Guy falling short of expectations.
Furthermore, Bad Boys 4 will also cater to a limited audience with its R-rating. Will Smith’s pull at the box office following his Oscars controversy also remains untested. So, there are chances for Bad Boys: Ride or Die to not replicate its predecessor’s success and flop if 2024’s summer trend continues, and the audience doesn’t show interest in the Will Smith flick. But, Sony’s CEO Tony Vinciquerra is optimistic about Bad Boys: Ride or Die’s box office potential. He believes it will do “just fine.”
Bad Boys: Ride or Die hits theaters domestically on June 7.
