I just got back from registration for the 37th Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament at the Ocean City Fishing Center and even though the forecast has put a damper on turnout, the teams are ready to play. 51 boats are registered for this year's event and the purse is a very, very respectable $648,000. It's best to come watch the scales in person tomorrow and Saturday from 4-8 PM and Sunday 4-7 PM at the OC Fishing Center, but if you can't be there in person you can watch our live broadcast with the Hooked on OC team at www.OCTunaTournament.com/fish-cam
There wasn't a ton of fishing done today with the gloomyish weather, but Brian Mills, Rich Gorsuch and Paul Musser did a little OC Inshore Classic practice and ended up with a very, very nice catch. The guys had keeper tautog, sheepshead and rockfish on an OC Inlet trip aboard Brian's "Playdate."
The crew of the Boss Hogg had a great day in the deep the other day with a nice pile of mahi and some tilefish.
Michael Marissa was part of this crew that released two white marlin and boxed two stud yellowfin tuna of 97 and 88 pounds.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had some wind and rain to deal with, but he also had sea bass, so whatevs.
Winds yesterday evening and throughout the night ferocious; I'd delayed today's trip an hour and a half to capture the calm that would follow. Not a boat in our marina was out, yet a lone voice on the radio claimed it was rough in the inlet owing an outgoing current; but, once clear, the ocean was very nice. The voice, an unknown soul and half-right owing a hard ebb at the mouth of the inlet ..was otherwise full of baloney.
The ocean was not nice.
It was, however, doable.
One ought never expect much from an anonymous radio source (especially for fish!) What then of the weatherman's score? Not good. Although the wind did indeed fall out; today's forecast had included no rain after dawn. That too was full of baloney.

(Worth noting: With sea conditions much worse than yesterday - zero seasick. Prevention works..)
We ventured on off to Calder's Reef where Micah deployed 4 pyramids. From there - fishing.
Sea bass didn't seem to mind the rain. Picked some nice cbass most everywhere we went- so Dinner, but never had a hard pull on keepers. Shorts gave today's clients practice & exercise.
Clark pocketed everyone's pool money and we managed to pick up a turtle choker (mylar balloon.)
Weather tomorrow looks plenty dicey - clients voted the day spent at the dock.
