The latest 45-day transfer portal window for college basketball has closed and South Carolina’s scholarships for the upcoming season are all spoken for meaning, barring something completely unforeseen, the Gamecocks roster for 2024-25 is pretty much set.
Below is a final breakdown of who the Gamecocks added from and lost to the transfer portal during the most recent window.

Committed
PG Jamarii Thomas, Norfolk State
Senior Norfolk State transfer guard Jamarii Thomas — the MEAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year — announced a pledge to the Gamecocks on May 5, flipping his commitment from VCU.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder led the Spartans with 16.9 points, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals this past season while starting 30 of 33 games. He also shot a career-high 38 percent from 3-point range. The Greensboro, N.C. also earned first-team all-defense honors.
The On3 Industry Ranking, an average of the rankings from On3, 247Sports and Rivals, considers Thomas the No. 61 point guard and No. 298 overall prospect in the portal. He has one year of eligibility left.
F Nick Pringle, Alabama
Alabama transfer portal big man Nick Pringle committed to South Carolina on April 27, choosing the Gamecocks primarily over Florida State and Kansas State.
The 6-foot-10, 230-pound former Whale Branch standout averaged 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Tide this past season and ended up playing a huge role in their Final Four run.
Pringle is ranked the No. 96 overall prospect in the portal by 247Sports.
F Jordan Butler, Missouri
The South Carolina native entered the transfer portal on April 21 and was committed to the Gamecocks by April 23, wasting little time in taking advantage of the chance to come back home.
The 7-foot, 230-pound big-man, who hails from Greenville, S.C., played in 31 games for the Tigers, making 14 starts. He averaged 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11.4 minutes per game. Butler had his best game of the season at Ole Miss (Feb. 17) with 10 points (4-of-7 FGs) and five rebounds.
Outgoing Transfers
G Meechie Johnson – Ohio State
Johnson entered the transfer portal on March 25 and committed to Ohio State on April 2.
The 6-foot-2, 184-pounder from Cleveland, Ohio averaged 14.1 points per game for a Gamecocks program that made a run to the NCAA Tournament in head coach Lamont Paris’ second season at the helm of the program.
F Josh Gray
Gray entered the transfer portal on April 20.
The 7-foot, 265-pound senior from Brooklyn, N.Y. played the last three seasons at South Carolina after starting his career at LSU. Gray averaged 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game as a key player off the bench this past season.
