Supreme Court Gives Donald Trump New 'Major' Victory

By Nick Mordowanec and Jason Lemon
The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted President Donald Trump a stay pending appeal, affirming that his administration's executive order directing agencies to develop reduction in force (RIF) plans are likely lawful.
"The application for stay presented to Justice Kagan and by her referred to the Court is granted," the Supreme Court decision said in the decision.
"Because the Govern-ment is likely to succeed on its argument that the Executive Order and Memorandum are lawful—and because the other factors bearing on whether to grant a stay are satisfied—we grant the application."
Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, wrote on X, formerly Twitter, saying that the Supreme Court decision was a "major victory" for the Trump administration.
