The Most Entertaining Parenting Posts of the Week (July 8, 2024)
We should all know less about each other. This mantra has popped up on Twitter recently, often in response to people sharing insanely personal details online that nobody asked for. With the advent of social media, we have become conditioned to share so much of our lives with complete strangers without thinking twice about it. We're not just showing the shiny and cool parts of our lives with strangers: we're showing everything! We share our traumas on TikTok because that's what brings in the clicks. We tell people in Facebook groups our whole life story because boundaries don't exist anymore! If you're an adult who overshares on the internet about your own life, that's all well and good. I can't tell you how to manage your digital footprint. However, when parents can't help but post wild things about their kids online, that's when things get a bit more ethically dubious. Nonetheless, we can't get enough of it, anonymously of course.
