2026 DB legacy Justice Fitzpatrick reacts to Bama offer, sets up visit
A familiar name for Alabama Crimson Tide fans landed an offer from the football program this week.
Justice Fitzpatrick, younger brother of former Bama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick, reported an offer from Kalen DeBoer‘s staff on Tuesday. The good news comes just a week before his return trip to Tuscaloosa, which will be his first visit of the year.
“I was definitely excited,” Fitzpatrick told BamaOnLine. “It’s a really familiar space and it was one of my first interests growing up because that’s where I was around.”
Minkah Fitzpatrick won two national championships during his three-year career at the University of Alabama. His 2017 season was a one for the record books as he was a Unanimous All-American, First-Team All-SEC, and won the Chuck Bednarik and Jim Thorpe Awards.
The current Pittsburgh Steeler was happy to see his younger brother earn this offer, as was the entire Fitzpatrick family.
“He was definitely excited. He loves Bama,” Fitzpatrick said. “I think this year is definitely a big year for him because he wants to see if things are going to be the same. He said the ‘Saban Factor’ was different. He said it’s a lot this new coach has to keep up with.
“[My family] was definitely excited because we all feel the same way about Bama,” Fitzpatrick continued. “I would say it was more of a comfortable option and probably the most familiar. But now, going into it, it’s going to be more of a new scene. That’s why it’s definitely important for me to go up there.”
Fitzpatrick has carved out a strong resume for himself independent of his older brother’s accomplishments.
He plays for St. Thomas Aquinas in South Florida, a program that churns out top prospects on a yearly basis and goes up against elite teams across the country every season. The On3 Industry Rankings tab Fitzpatrick as a top-50 player in the Class of 2026 and the No. 5 safety in the nation.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder detailed what Alabama’s Colin Hitschler said about his skill set during this week’s call.
“They really like how I can play multiple positions,” Fitzpatrick said. “How I’m a big, physical guy. They like my work ethic. They’ve talked with my coaches, and they’ve all said great things.
“I like [their scheme] a lot,” Fitzpatrick added. “I’m just an athlete, so I can play any position on the field. I definitely like that. Between being nickel, corner, and safety, I can do definitely it all. So, I like that from them.”
Justice Fitzpatrick is ready to learn more about the new-look Alabama program
Next Tuesday, Fitzpatrick will be back on Alabama’s campus. It’s a trip with much anticipation from all parties involved, including the Tide faithful.
Fitzpatrick has racked up over two dozen offers thus far, including a recent one last month from the USC Trojans. All of these programs are in equal standing for Fitzpatrick, who is the No. 6 rising junior in the Sunshine State.
“All the teams that have offered me, I would say I’m equally interested,” Fitzpatrick said. “I’m still really early in my recruitment. The playing field is really level right now.
“I’m just really excited and interested in getting to know the team and how they teach,” Fitzpatrick said of Alabama. “What I really know about Coach DeBoer is that he’s an offensive-minded coach. He’s definitely a great coach, especially if Saban trusted him to take the spot. With Coach Hitsch, I honestly don’t know too much about their staff and how they coach. That’s why I want to get up there. See the type of guys they are, how they coach, and also the way they teach. It’s really important.”

As he noted, his older brother is intrigued by what Alabama will be able to accomplish this year with their first new head coach in nearly two decades.
Fitzpatrick shares that same sentiment.
“I think this is definitely a really important year for me to see how they develop, especially under a new coach,” Fitzpatrick said. “Definitely looking forward to seeing how they play and how their year goes. I want to get up there and see how Coach DeBoer can lead this team throughout the season.”
Not surprisingly, Fitzpatrick is not close to making a decision, with his entire focus being on preparation for his junior season.
Along with Alabama, he is hoping to visit Florida State, Georgia, Miami, and maybe a few others at some point this summer.
