State Police Gun Range In Simsbury Getting A Facelift
SIMSBURY, CT — The Connecticut State Police gun range on Nod Road in Simsbury will get a new facelift following the State Bond Commissoin's vote earlier this month.Updating her colleagues at the last Simsbury Board of Selectmen meeting on June 10, Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis said the commission approved a $22.5 million appropriation for the work. She said the funding will take care of several improvements to structures on site and help combat flooding that can arise on the property."According to the Governor’s Office, it will not result in any increase in the volume of use at the range. He also stated that this project has been in the works for a long time, and it will remain in its current location, which is next to an existing, private gun range," Mackstutis wrote in her report. It is hoped the new-and-improved gun range will create a "better facility for out State Troopers and their training," wrote the first selectman.
