Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk rematch ruled unlikely as Anthony Joshua issued worrying message
Former British boxer Johnny Nelson believes Tyson Fury will pull out of his scheduled rematch with Oleksandr Usyk and could even retire from boxing early in a worrying message for Anthony Joshua.Fury lost his undefeated record last month in the undisputed heavyweight title bout with Usyk. The 35-year-old went into the fight as the bookies favourite and appeared in control at the halfway stage, but Usyk turned things around spectacularly and came close to knocking his opponent out.The Ukrainian was crowned the undisputed heavyweight champion via a split points decision, which Fury felt was unjust. It's been a month since Fury lost his world heavyweight title and he was recently snapped being escorted out of a bar before collapsing on the street. The clip sparked concern for Fury's wellbeing with his fans hopeful the incident is a one-off.The Gypsy King has a few months until he's set to re-enter a training camp for the rematch with Usyk on December 21.However, Nelson doesn't think Fury will make it that far and could even retire from boxing for good.“I think for Tyson Fury, the realisation of what’s happened to him, will kick in slowly but surely," he said on Seconds Out.“It probably buys into all the theories of whether he will box again and where his head’s going to be at for the Usyk rematch. "I don’t believe Tyson will fight Oleksandr Usyk next, or again. "He could retire because of the manner of the defeat - he’s struggling to deal with it.“As long as Usyk’s around, he ain’t gonna box. He can’t get his head around it. "I don’t think he’ll go through that again. He can smile and joke but it’s a big deal.”Fury retiring would send shockwaves up and down British boxing with fans desperate to see him step in the ring with long-time rival Anthony Joshua.LATEST SPORT NEWS: Tyson Fury's friends 'concerned' about boxing star after boozy night out in MorecambeEmma Raducanu admits to uncertainty after powerful Nottingham Open victory over Ena ShibaharaRory Mcllroy CALLS OFF divorce from wife of 7 years in shocking U-turn: 'Our best future is together'The two British heavyweights have held talks on numerous occasions but negotiations have fallen through.Eddie Hearn has since hinted that an agreement could be on the cards for Fury and Joshua to finally fight in 2025.Joshua is currently set to fight Daniel Dubois following the Brit's devastating win over Filip Hrgovic.
