Coronation Street legend feared dead in early ITVX release

David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has been left in a bad way after being hit by a car in Coronation Street.
Over the past few weeks, David’s desperation to pay Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) back has seen him sink to new lows. Not so long ago, he nearly set fire to the Platt home to claim on the insurance, but that plan went south when Max (Paddy Bever) got there first and destroyed the house instead.
With seemingly no other option, David told his dodgy mate Andy that they would organise his own death, and in a final attempt remove Harvey’s reign over the family.
The plan was for Andy to get drunk and drive at David, and it would happen at 2pm.

Tonight’s episode of the ITV soap primarily focused on David’s storyline and how it impacted those around him. In the build up to 2pm, he spent time writing notes to his family and talking to Audrey (Sue Nicholls).
Ultimately though, David had convinced himself his life would end once Andy drove at him. When the final moments began, David stood in the middle of the road.
It was witnessed by a puzzled Shona (Julia Goulding), who didn’t have time to try and work out what was going on, due to Andy speeding down the cobbles.
Unfortunately, what David didn’t take into consideration was the potential for someone else to be involved. Just before Andy approached, Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) had left the pub in a panic after confessing to Daniel (Rob Mallard) that he isn’t the father of her baby.

Daisy dropped a shopping bag right beside David and as she picked it up, he realised she was in the way.
David shoved Daisy but was hit by the car, and the entire thing was witnessed by Shona.
The two characters were rushed to hospital, with their loved ones given updates on their conditions later in the day.
So the question for David, if he’s to survive this ordeal – was it really all worth it?
