UGA Takes on NC State for Final CWS Spot
After an entertaining weekend in college baseball, only one spot remains in the College World Series. On Monday night, Georgia will take on NC State in the Athens Super Regional. The Bulldogs thrashed the Wolfpack 11-2 on Sunday to force a decisive Game 3. Georgia is a -155 favorite at BetMGM.
If Georgia defeats NC State, the Bulldogs will become the fifth SEC team to earn a spot in Omaha. Texas A&M is the favorite at +270, followed by Tennessee and Kentucky at +275 and +500 respectively. Florida advanced to the CWS with a walk-off double in the 13th inning against Clemson.
The College World Series begins on Friday.
Panthers Seek 2-0 Lead in Stanley Cup Finals
Sergei Bobrovsky stopped all 32 shots on goal Saturday, as he led the Florida Panthers to a 3-0 victory over the Oilers. The shutout in Game 1 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals drew comparisons to the opener of the Panthers’ previous series when Florida shut out the Rangers 3-0. The Oilers’ potent offense needs to wake up on Monday before the series heads back to Edmonton.
The Panthers have odds of -140 at ESPN BET to defeat the Oilers (+120) in Monday’s Game 2. A stifling Panthers’ defense has allowed only five goals in its last four games. After Saturday’s shutout, Bobrovsky became the favorite to win the Conn Smythe trophy at BetRivers. Bobrovsky has odds of +150 to win Stanley Cup MVP, ahead of Connor McDavid and Aleksander Barkov at +275 and +300, respectively.

NBA Finals Moves to Dallas
Despite a poor shooting night from beyond the arc, the Celtics clamped down on defense on Sunday in a 105-98 win over the Mavs. With the victory, Boston took a 2-0 series lead in the NBA Finals. The series moves to Dallas on Wednesday with the Mavs desperate for a win.
Celtics forward Kristaps Porzingis limped to the bench in the fourth quarter with a lower leg injury. Following the win, Porzingis said he feels good about his status for Game 3. Only five teams in NBA history have overcome an 0-2 deficit to win the NBA Finals.
The Celtics’ odds to win the title moved to -800 at DraftKings.
Jayson Tatum remains the favorite for Finals MVP at +125, just ahead of teammate Jaylen Brown (+175). But Jrue Holiday is gaining steam after a superlative performance on Sunday night. Holiday is now the fourth choice at +750, behind Luka Doncic. The Mavs’ star guard has odds of DraftKings at +600.

SCOTUS Conference on West Flagler Case
At long last, the future of Florida sports betting will go before the U.S. Supreme Court. On Thursday, the nation’s highest court will conference on a petition filed by West Flagler Associates, a Florida parimutuel. Under the petition, West Flagler will ask the Court to consider shutting down Hard Rock Bet, a mobile sports betting platform operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
At issue is whether a compact between the State of Florida and the tribe “authorized,” off-reservation tribal gaming. If so, SCOTUS may rule on whether the compact violates the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). For the Court to take up the case, four of the nine justices must deem it worthy. A decision is expected by June 24th.
Scheffler Shoots for First U.S. Open
Scottie Scheffler defeated Collin Morikawa by one shot on Sunday to win The Memorial in gusty conditions at the Jack Nicklaus-hosted tournament. Scheffler became the first golfer to capture five wins in eight PGA Tour tournaments since Tiger Woods in 2007-08.
Scheffler enters the U.S. Open, the year’s third major, with loads of momentum. While Scheffler owns two career Masters titles, he has never won a U.S. Open. Scheffler is the overwhelming 3/1 favorite at SuperBook Sports. Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele are the co-second choice at 12/1.
The U.S. Open returns to Pinehurst No. 2 for the first time since 2014. The Donald Ross-designed course is reputed for its undulating greens, which will undoubtedly challenge the world’s best putters. The four-day tournament begins on Thursday.

England, the favorite at +300, boasts a potent squad upfront. England has an embarrassment of riches with Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, Manchester City forward Phil Foden, and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham. England opens the European Championships on Sunday against Serbia. Defending champion Italy is the sixth choice at +1400.
