Stephen A. Smith's chances of becoming the next president of the United States continue to rise after a shock new betting market listed him as the fourth favorite to become Democratic nominee.
The ESPN personality previously talked up his chances of running for the White House in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com at the Super Bowl, and rumors have continued to swirl in the weeks since.
Now, in a shock new gambling market first reported by Front Office Sports, he has been listed as one of the favorites to be the Democrats' nominee for 2028, only trailing Gavin Newsom Josh Shapiro and Wes Moore.
As of Sunday morning, a $100 bet on Stephen. A to win the race would win you $1,241, and his odds of winning the nomination are now reportedly 7.26%.
Incredibly, Smith is currently tied with the likes of Pete Buttigieg, Gretchen Whitmer and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the betting on prediction market Kalshi, while he sits above Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, Mark Cuban, John Fetterman and J.B. Pritzker.
Speaking to DailyMail.com in New Orleans about his chances, Smith said: 'Assuming that I'm well off, that I have lots of money, and money is no longer a concern, if the American people came to me and looked at me and said "Yo, man, we want you to run for office", and I had a legitimate shot to win the presidency of the United States, I'm not gonna lie. I'll think about that.

'But I gotta have my money. I'm not gonna go to the White House broke. I'm not gonna do that. I gotta have my money. I gotta have my home. I gotta have my financial situation completely taken care of. I have no concerns if that happens for me.
'If they told me I had a legitimate, bonafide shot to win the presidency of the United States of America, I would entertain it.
'Because the part that I'm not joking about is I believe I could beat every candidate on that poll. Every candidate that they mentioned, from Kamala Harris right on down to (Pete) Buttigieg and to Tim Walz. I'd beat all of them. I do believe that. I really do.'
James Carville, who worked as a lead strategist on Bill Clinton's winning 1992 campaign, recently delivered a brutal verdict on Smith's chances of taking the White House in an expletive-ridden rant on his Politicon podcast, though.
'When it comes to sports, I find him to be really insightful. When it comes to politics, he don't know his a** from a hole in the ground,' Carville said.
'He's on there running his goddamn mouth about how he may have to run as a Democrat because there's nothing left of the Democratic Party, and they have no talent. Stephen A., are you s****ing me?
'Before you start running your f***ing mouth off, about politics, a topic of which you really don't know anything about, you ought to sit back and think about it and call some people and run it by them.'
Stephen A. soon hit back, noting: 'Sir, do you have to be so rude? Dropping F-bombs and going off like that. I know that’s your nature, I understand that. But let’s just say two can do that you know. I mean, if you really wanted to get raw, ain’t nobody hiding from that.

'I could be that way, but my mom told me to respect my elders. And you are 80 years of age if I remember correctly. I’m trying to be respectful so I’m not gonna come at you the way you came at me. I thought that was completely unnecessary.
'I religiously say I am no political aficionado. I religiously say I don’t know politics like that. I read, I watch the news, I am a conscientious observer. But I do have to ask you a question mister James Carville, albeit rhetorically.
'You do know that you are talking to a voter right? Could that be one of the reasons y’all lost? Just a thought. Because you sound like one of those old curmudgeons that want things to be the way that they used to be.
'And you are resentful, harboring an abundance of animosity because you are not being heard. That is not Stephen A. Smith’s fault sir. That’s that damn Democratic Party that I was talking about.'
