Former Indiana Teacher Brock Wedgeworth Charged With Providing Drugs and Alcohol to Students
Greenfield and Fortville, Indiana communities were disrupted by an unsettling revelation as former Mt. Vernon and New Palestine teacher Brock Wedgeworth, 45, faced arrest for providing drugs and alcohol to students. Greenfield Police, alongside Fortville detectives, took Wedgeworth into custody yesterday morning, as reported by WRTV.
Allegations suggest that Wedgeworth had given these substances to former students on multiple occasions, leading to criminal charges. He is charged with four counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, all Level 6 felonies. Deputy Police Chief Charles McMichael highlighted the gravity of these actions in an interview with WIBC, stating, "It’s things like this that can very quickly and very easily turn into more dangerous activities. These types of relationships between students and teachers should never happen. Providing alcohol and drugs to juveniles shouldn’t happen."
The Greenfield Police Department had been investigating the former teacher since January of this year, signaling the length and depth of their probe into the allegations. Further details on the investigation were provided by WISHTV, which noted that Wedgeworth is accused of meeting the involved students during his time as an educator at both institutions.
