Jetstar flight is forced to turn back soon after takeoff after concerning discovery

By NICHOLAS COMINO,
A Jetstar flight bound for Ballina was forced to turn around just minutes after taking off from Melbourne due to an engineering fault.
JQ464 left Tullamarine Airport at 1.40pm on Wednesday before it had to turn back and fly in a holding pattern before landing at 2.25pm.
A minor fault was identified on board and the plane was returned as a precaution.
It is understood there was an issue with one of the aircraft's wing flaps, which made no impact on the flight.
The plane landed without issue and all passengers safely disembarked.
Passengers were moved onto a new flight, which was scheduled to leave just before 4pm.
