Teen Arrested After SRO Alerted To Bomb Threat Made At Aberdeen MS
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A 14-year-old has been arrested after authorities said the teen and a 12-year-old threatened to place a bomb at Aberdeen Middle School. On Monday morning, a student reported to the Aberdeen Middle School resource officer that they overheard two students discussing placing a bomb in a toilet. Working with the school safety liaison, an investigation was launched and the two students were quickly identified. Their property at school was searched, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said. "While it is important to note no items that could be used to make a bomb were located, writings and drawings describing how to make a bomb were located in both juveniles' possessions," the sheriff's office said. The 14-year-old has been charged with making threats of mass violence. Based on Maryland law, the 12-year-old cannot be charged because of their age, the sheriff's office said."We commend the student who followed, 'see something, say something' and quickly found their SRO to confide in what they saw. Over the last several weeks, we have seen a significant increase in the amount of threats being made to bring violence into school. Each and every threat is documented and investigated, and when appropriate, charges are filed. Our children deserve a safe place to learn free from threats of violence. We will continue holding those accountable who seek to make school a place of fear," the sheriff's office said. The article Teen Arrested After SRO Alerted To Bomb Threat Made At Aberdeen MS appeared first on Bel Air, MD Patch.
