Corey Heim confronts Christian Eckes on pit road following mid-race collision

Following the finish at Indianapolis Raceway Park, Corey Heim walked to Christian Eckes on pit road and voiced his displeasure. The two NASCAR drivers had contact on the track, leading to a flat tire and poor result for Heim by the end of the night.
Corey Heim was upset enough to drive Christian Eckes up the track under caution. The flat left front tire was enough to make Heim pit. He stayed on the lead lap, and even ran up front early on in the run after the contact.
As the race went long, Heim’s truck got worse, likely due to the contact. Heim was frustrated after the race. Eckes said he didn’t do it on purpose, but that doesn’t give Heim a better finish.

For all of the bluster and drama, neither Corey Heim nor Christian Eckes got the last laugh. These two championship favorites both left without a win today at IRP. Both had trucks capable of winning. However, Ty Majeski’s truck ended up being too much to handle in the end.
It is not often that Heim finishes outside of the top-10. That is a disappointing effort for him and his team for sure. To walk away P17 after having one of the best five trucks in the field has to be a hard pill to swallow.
This is a reminder that the championship is wide open. All it takes is one strong run to the Championship 4 and a great performance at Phoenix. Heim and Eckes can win all the races between now and Phoenix, but if they don’t perform in the finale, then it’s not going to mean much.
Corey Heim falls short, Ty Majeski wins at IRP
This win was not without drama. Corey Heim and Christian Eckes had their run-in with each other tonight. Throw in the restart penalty to Majeski and there was a lot going on with this race at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
It was not an easy day for Ty Majeski. A restart violation at the end of Stage 3 put him near the tail end of the lead lap. He almost went a lap down, coming off pit road just before the leaders.
That was enough. Majeski stayed on the lead lap, restarted P16 in Stage 2, and then showed he was the best driver with the best truck tonight, and drove back to the front.
Corey Heim is going to be upset about this one. But the Olympic break is coming up and he can use that time to reset and get ready for the playoffs. If he doesn’t come away with the championship this year, it will likely be a disappointment. That doesn’t mean it will be easy.
