This transition is expected to bring a continuation of the dry weather and warmer temperatures with fewer clouds developing this afternoon due to warm air advection aloft, according to the forecast. However, the pleasant weather is slated to take a turn on Friday when showers and storm chances increase with the arrival of a front.
Thursday will see this dry spell persist with temperature rises, although there might be an uptick in high cloud coverage later in the day as a shortwave trough swings through the Western Great Lakes. This will begin to flatten the ridge moving eastward, though temperatures are still predicted to be a few degrees above the norm.

From an aviation perspective, the National Weather Service expects surface high pressure to keep flying conditions mostly clear (VFR) through Thursday. However, "a slow moving upper level trough will promote periodic showers and thunderstorms with occasional restrictions Friday through Monday." Specifically, Saturday morning might experience the peak of disruptions with MVFR and localized IFR conditions.
