Special Storm Damage Collection Planned In Jenkintown
JENKINTOWN, PA —Due to the storm that moved through the borough Wednesday night, the public works department cleared roads for emergency and non-emergency vehicles. Three roads were closed to traffic so fallen trees could be safely removed. They are Rydal Road (Vernon to Newbold), Newbold Road (Rydal to Homestead), Rodman Avenue (Elm to Linda Vista). The roads are temporarily closed for safe access by the Utility Companies and ultimate removal of the trees by the responsible parties. Now that the initial tasks are under control, public works will perform a special curbside collection of branches and limbs on Monday. This will not affect regularly scheduled curbside collection of yard waste and debris on Tuesday, July 2. It will also not impact regular curbside pickup of trash and recycling by Republic Services on Friday.Public Works is not permitted to work on private property. If a tree from private property falls on to a public roadway the owner of the property from where the tree came is responsible for the removal of the tree. While public works will clear the roads by all means at their disposal there will be some trees that are too large for the borough's equipment and a contractor will need to be hired by the responsible party.Anyone with questions should contact the borough at 215-885 -0700.The article Special Storm Damage Collection Planned In Jenkintown appeared first on Abington, PA Patch.
