Columbus Family Tragedy: Police Investigate East 12th Avenue Murder-Suicide Involving Young Mother and Infant

The Columbus Division of Police identified the victims of a tragic incident on East 12th Avenue that occurred Tuesday night as a young woman, her infant child, and the child's father. Twenty-year-old Isabella Addington, her four-month-old daughter Imani Robinson, and 22-year-old Jaden Robinson were found deceased from gunshot wounds in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide. WBNS reported that police arrived after receiving calls past 11:20 p.m. alerting them to a shooting inside a home.
Detectives are working to piece together the circumstances that led to this fatal event, suspecting Jaden Robinson to have shot Addington and the infant before turning the firearm on himself. This marks the second incident within a week and adds to a disturbing pattern of similar cases in Columbus, with at least five occurring in three weeks. According to court documents cited by FOX 28 Columbus, Robinson had a criminal history and was not to have had a weapon due to an aggravated burglary charge in the previous year.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of this event, local authorities emphasize the importance of seeking help in situations of domestic violence. "We beg and plead people: don’t resort to firearms to settle your disputes. If you’re in a potentially domestic violence relationship, reach out and get help. We don’t want any more victims out of this," Sergeant Joe Albert said in a statement obtained by WBNS. Officials are concerned as the toll of domestic violence homicides for the current year has reached 18, as per the same report, showing a distressing climb from previous years.
The police urge anyone in a similar situation to seek support immediately, highlighting that resources such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline and local support services are available. Should anyone find themselves experiencing a mental health crisis, they are encouraged to promptly reach out to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988 or texting 4HOPE to the Crisis Text Helpline at 741741 for assistance, as noted by NBC4i. In the wake of such tragedies, vigilance remains emphasized, supporting those at risk and promoting preventative action to forestall future calamities.
