Fundraisers Created For Teens Killed By Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — With the wake for one teen planned for Wednesday, GoFundMe campaigns have been launched to cover several costs following the deaths of two Conant High School students last weekend. Yeferson A. Flores Ramos, 17, and Litzy Flores, 16, were found dead in a car early Sunday, with a preliminary autopsy indicating the two were killed by an accidental carbon monoxide poisoning, according to Hoffman Estates police. Emergency personnel responded at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday to the 200 block of East Berkley Lane for a report of two people unconscious in a locked vehicle, police said. The wake is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Morizzo Funeral Home, 2550 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates. A funearl Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Church of the Holy Spirit — St Gregory of Nyssa Parish, 1451 Bode Road, Schaumburg. An obituary for Flores can be found here. According to the GoFundMe for Litzy Flores, the arrangements for her funeral and memorial service are "unexpectedly high." The campaign, which has a goal of raising $15,000, has raised over $8,000 as of Wednesday morning. The GoFundMe is being organized by Nelson Carranza."Litzy, a young girl we watched grow up alongside her father, Jovany Flores, and her uncles at soccer games, was deeply loved by her family and community. Her passing leaves us with immense grief," reads the GoFundMe, which describes the two teens as friends. Kensy Flores is organizing the GoFundMe for Ramos. The campaign, which is listed in Spanish, translates to: "We are raising funds for Jefferson Flores, he was 17 years old and unfortunately was found dead in his car on March 2nd at 2 a.m., and we need to repatriate him to Honduras. For those who would like to send [phone redacted] directly, every little bit would be of great help! God bless you!!"As of Wednesday morning, the GoFundMe has raised over $10,000 of a $13,000 goal.
