Angel Reese fires back at Caitlin Clark's teammate Sydney Colson over her rookie contract

By MAX WINTERS
Angel Reese celebrated winning a $50,000 bonus on Monday by firing back at a fellow WNBA player who asked for a share of her Unrivaled winnings.
Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever teammate Sydney Colson messaged Reese on X after her Rose BC team won the new competition's inaugural season.
Each player on the championship-winning club received a $50,000 share of the prize pot - part of Unrivaled's goal of compensating players more than almost any other professional women's sports league.
It is a welcome extra pay day for Reese, who signed a four-year, $324,383 rookie scale contract with the Chicago Sky 12 months ago before her first WNBA season and is due just under $75,000 in 2025.
Soon after the bonus was secured, Reese posted '50K NEED DATTTTT' on X which promoted Colson to reply to her.
She messaged Reese, writing: 'Hey angel girl, just wanted to check in and see how ur doing and just let u know I'm here for u if u need anything…esp if u need to get rid of 50k by tomorrow or anything like that…'

Colson, a two-time WNBA champion, is due to earn $90,000 with the Fever in 2025, according to Spotrac.
Founded by Napheesa Collier and fellow WNBA star Breanna Stewart, Unrivaled has the highest average salary for players of any pro women's sports league, with many earning six-figure salaries.
Games are played with three seven-minute quarters and an untimed fourth. Teams play to a 'winning score' determined by adding 11 points to the squad that is leading after three quarters.
Six teams of 36 of the best players in the WNBA played during the eight week regular season.
Unrivaled Commissioner Micky Lawler said she was pleased with the league's inaugural campaign. She said next season will likely continue with six teams, but expects the league could expand to other markets beyond Miami in the future.
More than 20 players are already under contract for the next two seasons, according to Unrivaled President Alex Bazzell.
'We're going to look at areas of improvement that we could make within what we delivered this season,' Lawler said.

'Starting a league is hard, and running it is also hard. And so we had to stay focused on delivering this, here, now. And then we can start to think beyond.'

Comedian and actress Wanda Sykes, former U.S. women's national soccer team captain Alex Morgan and former NBA All-Star Steve Nash were among other big names who showed up throughout the season.
