Jeffrey Earnhardt apologizes after several cars taken out in huge lap 1 wreck at Daytona

Well, the NASCAR Xfinity Series couldn’t make it even one lap around Daytona International Speedway without wrecking. Jeffrey Earnhardt got into Jeremy Clements and before you knew it, multiple cars were caught up.
There was too much aggression on the opening restart. Drivers were getting too intense, trying to put other cars middle and abandon them in the draft.

Jeffrey Earnhardt got into Jeremy Clements a bit too much and that was all she wrote. Clements wrecks, Austin Hill caught up, Gus Dean reacted and created a mess even behind the original incident.
Carnage on Lap 1 at Daytona. Go figure.

Soon after the incident, Earnhardt was on his radio apologizing to all involved. That’s not going to save anyone’s cars, though.
“I apologize.” – @JEarnhardt1 says as the caution flies due to contact made to the 51 on Lap 1. #TeamToyota | #Wawa250— Sam Hunt Racing (@Team_SHR26) August 23, 2024
The contact from Earnhardt to Clements was enough to make the caution flag come out. When Gus Dean checked up, it caused a huge mess in the back of the field. Austin Hill, who dropped from the front row to the rear of the field before the race, was involved but is racing with damage.
You hate to see cars wrecked on Lap 1. Seeing this many of them wrecked is even harder to watch. But this might give us nice clean, and competitive racing for the rest of the night.
Oh, this is Daytona, who am I kidding?
Jeffrey Earnhardt triggers the big one
This week, Jeffrey Earnhardt is racing for Sam Hunt Racing. This is a major opportunity for him as he seeks more seat time this year and in 2025. Earnhardt has to make the most of this opportunity, too.
Sam Hunt Racing has great cars. They are more strong when a driver gets behind the wheel who knows what they are doing. Perhaps some of that Earnhardt superspeedway talent will emerge tonight for the No. 26 car.
The Wawa 250 is going to be exciting and we should see some great racing this Friday night. Daytona under the lights is always special. Despite a rough start, I expect this race to be entertaining and give fans what they want.
Jeffrey Earnhardt made an early mistake. He has to move on from that and do hi best to put himself in position to win tonight. There is opportunity and he has to take full advantage.
