Biden-Trump Presidential Debate: Hatboro Bakery Lets Cookies Decide
HATBORO, PA —Let the cookies decide the fate of the debate —and maybe the presidential race.As President Joe Biden squares off against former President Donald Trump in the first presidential debate Thursday night, Lochel's Bakery is getting ahead of the political game. The South York Road bakery rolled out its famous presidential cookies as it has in years past, but this year is selling the cookies for the debates instead of waiting before the November general election. The cookies represent a presidential candidate: Red for Republican and Blue for a Democrat. See the cookies presented on a sheet here.Based on cookie sales, Trump is leading Biden.Bakery Owner Kathleen Lochel told Patch Thursday that 136 Trump cookies were sold this morning with six Biden cookies but the count has changed with more cookies being sold. She said, though, that Trump is still leading."We've had many inquiries on the cookies," Bakery Owner Kathleen Lochel said in a Facebook post. "If there are extras, we will put in the store, however, by the looks of requests...I doubt it!While the bakery's cookies have determined three of the past four presidential races, Lochel said that the last presidential election had a different outcome.Biden won as president but Trump won the cookie war at the bakery: 31,804 to Biden's 5,750.The bakery said it would sell the political cookies again for the next presidential debate and then officially in store from September 5 through the Nov. 5 general election. The article Biden-Trump Presidential Debate: Hatboro Bakery Lets Cookies Decide appeared first on Hatboro-Horsham, PA Patch.
