Longtime AT&T customers will be hit with $10 monthly price hike on unlimited plans – but you need to check your contract
SELECT AT&T customers will see monthly price hikes soon.
The cost increase will affect those under contract on specific phone plans within the telecommunications company.

Those with older unlimited wireless plans will have their monthly charges bumped by $10 to $20, according to a press release from AT&T earlier in June.
Increases will begin starting in August of this year, and affect at least 10 “retired” unlimited plans, according to the company.
AT&T also confirmed customers who have multiple lines attached to the retired plans will see a maximum increase of $20.
“If you have a single line of service on your plan, your monthly plan charge will increase by $10,” the release noted.
“If you have multiple lines on your plan, your monthly plan charge will increase by a total of $20.”
“This is the total monthly increase, not per line increase,” AT&T emphasized.
A multitude of unlimited plans have been offered by AT&T for several years, with different charges, perks, and fees.
The benefit of unlimited plans sees customers get as much data, talk, and text, as they want, but the downside is that it can be slowed if they hit a high-speed data limit.
SWEET INCENTIVE
To lessen the sting of the price hike announcement, AT&T promised to offer more high-speed and even hotspot data to those affected customers still using the retired unlimited plans.
The bumps ranged from up to 100GB of high-speed data for some plans and 60GB of hotspot data.
“AT&T Unlimited Choice, Choice II, Choice Enhanced, Unlimited & More, and Unlimited Value plans will now include 75GB of high-speed data and 30GB of hotspot data,” the company noted.
“AT&T Unlimited Plus, Plus Enhanced, Unlimited & More Premium, and AT&T Unlimited (with TV) plans will now include 100GB of high-speed data and 60GB of hotspot data.”
It seems that the price hike could entice customers to update and switch to one of AT&T’s current unlimited plans.
They are listed as the AT&T Unlimited Starter SL, Unlimited Extra EL, and Unlimited Premium PL.
AT&T Price Hikes
There are at least 10 unlimited plans at AT&T seeing price hikes in August. Those with single lines will see an additional $10 monthly charge, while those with multiple lines will see a $20 bump. The U.S. Sun has compiled a list below of the affected plans:

Prices for the plans range from $35.99 to $50.99 per month for a single line.
NOT ALONE
AT&T isn’t the only cellular carrier to make price hikes recently.
T-Mobile began monthly cost increases of $5 per line on June 5 for customers with certain plans.
It’s the company’s first increase in years, and similarly to AT&T, only those with older plans were affected, per CNET.
AT&T recently introduced “hyper-fast speed” internet plans on sale for customers.
T-Mobile also announced its $4.4 billion acquisition of US Cellular in May, which shook the industry.
