How much is The Garfield Movie predicted to make at the box office?
The Garfield Movie is reported to make $35 million domestically across its opening Memorial Day weekend from May 24-27, 2024. The predictions of Sony’s highly anticipated animated feature have improved since last week.
As per Deadline, The Garfield Movie was initially expected to make $30 million, but now the movie’s projected opening is $5 million higher than what was originally anticipated. Whether these estimates further get higher as we move closer to its release remains to be seen.
Will The Garfield Movie flop or succeed?
The Garfield Movie’s budget has been kept under wraps for now, but the film is expected to enjoy a strong performance worldwide. It will be released in the United States alongside Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which is predicted to open higher.
However, The Garfield Movie’s budget will likely be lower than Furiosa’s $233 million production cost. Furthermore, it has already opened in 18 international markets and brought in $22 million, according to Variety. Spain has contributed $3.2 million to the total while Brazil added $2.2 million. Italy and Peru’s box office also provided $1.6 million and $1.3 million, respectively.
Its ticket sales are currently similar to The Secret Life of Pets 2, which eventually brought in $272 million internationally, and $431 million worldwide. So overall, things seem positive for Chris Pratt’s upcoming Sony outing.

“Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.”
