Eastern Oregon Man Sentenced to Over 12 Years for Sexually Abusing Minors He Met on Snapchat
An Eastern Oregon predator will be behind bars for over a decade after his conviction for the heinous sexual abuse of two minors he trapped via Snapchat, the Department of Justice reported. Albert Wayne Johnson, 42, of La Grande, was handed a sentence of 151 months in federal prison following a series of disturbing events dating back to August 2022, when he met the victims online and lured them across state lines.
Johnson's trail of abuse began when he enticed the minors from Washington State, transporting them through Idaho to Oregon, the young victims reported to Clackamas County deputies they were abandoned at Barton Park in Boring, Oregon; they were subjected to sexual abuse at various locations along the route including a Washington motel and a campground in Oregon. The offender was finally apprehended on August 30, 2022, at his La Grande home on an outstanding parole violation warrant the law enforcement's pursuit led by several agencies concluded with Johnson's capture and subsequent legal proceedings.
Surveillance efforts conducted by the Othello Police Department uncovered damning evidence against Johnson, as footage from an Othello motel demonstrated his association with the minors during their ordeal.
