Feels like fall is falling this week with some drastic temperature differences forecast throughout this week. Yesterday was in the mid 70s and tomorrow it's not supposed to get out of the upper 50s. It's time to put the flannels and hoodie sweatshirts on, but we've got some of the best fishing of the year going on right now for inshore species so get out there and enjoy it.
Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters had a crazy good day in the OC Inlet today! Captain Dave broke in some of his new Deadly Tackle spinning rods on red drum, flounder and sheepshead. The crew ended up with 12 sheepshead, 2 tautog, 8 flounder, a slot red drum a few rock and released "lord knows how many." The biggest flounder of the day ate a Deadly Tackle tog / bottom jig baited with a sand flea.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler was stuck inshore today thanks to the wind, but he did still put his anglers on some good fishing with sea bass and a few big red drum that were caught and released.
Ryan Ellerman fished the route 50 bridge last night where he tricked this 29" keeper rockfish into the net.
Kyle Bancaro caught this very nice 22" flounder in the Thorofare this afternoon with net man Chris Stricklan.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had a good trip to the rip today with about 1/2 of his anglers seeing limits of sea bass around the rail.

Sure looked fabulous clearing the inlet. Westerlies do that.
As the sun cleared a low band of clouds tight to the eastern horizon, today's "10 to 15 and decreasing NW winds" popped up almost 20 knots.
HaHa Fun.

Positioning at Capt. Bob's Reef was a task. Kai, Jen & Terry - then Ed & Everett all landed perfect reef block shots between the eastern barge and first tug at Bobby's. Only 50/60 feet between them; I intend to tie the pieces all together as I have on several other reefs.
Owing higher than forecast winds, we fished tight to the beach nearly all morning - had throwbacks galore. At least sea bass were chewing. When the wind began to lay down in early afternoon, we worked further and further off.
Added two hours to the trip (that I thought would be a slam dunk!) Ended up with half my clients limited, a worn out songbird blown offshore and brought back in, and one really worn out 11yo!
Great to see a youngster enjoy some fishing.
Don may have taken today's pool, but it won't be long and Kai will be showing folks how to catch em..
