On300 2026 RB Amari Latimer talks recent Michigan offer, potential first visit plans

Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford has gotten to work identifying early focuses in the 2026 recruiting class.
In late March, Alford extended an offer to On300 Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek ballcarrier Amari Latimer, whose offer sheet has ballooned to over 30 schools before the start of his junior season.
“It was awesome,” Latimer told The Wolverine. “I mean, you are talking about the national champions. I just hope they feel the same about me that I feel about them early on.”
The offer from the reigning College Football Playoff winners arrived less than two weeks after Alford was brought onto head coach Sherrone Moore‘s staff. While Latimer is still getting to know more about Michigan, he followed last season’s 15-0 and the impact Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards had on the offense.
“Michigan had two really good backs that both can give you a huge game at any time,” Latimer said. “For me being (an) RB, I just imagined myself having that same type of opportunity and experience.”
Alford also pulled the trigger on Latimer while at Ohio State. The nine-year tenure that Alford had in Columbus and the success he garnered immediately jumps out for Latimer.
“The pedigree of backs that he worked with in his career and their development,” Latimer said. “As recently as (TreVeyon) Henderson at Ohio State.”
Latimer has yet to visit Michigan, but he’s eyeing a date to make the flight up later in the offseason.
“I plan to visit this summer,” Latimer said. “I look forward to coming to Ann Arbor and just feeling the tradition and the excellence that has existed there.”
The opportunity to meet with Alford in person and the rest of the coaching staff is one of Latimer’s objectives on a first trip as well.
“I want to see the stadium and just the campus as a whole,” Latimer said. “I want to meet the coaches and let them get to know and feel the competitor that I am. For them to understand the all-around qualities that I bring as a person, student, and athlete.”
Along with Michigan, Latimer currently holds notable offers from Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina, Ole Miss, UCF, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida, Wisconsin, Oregon, Arkansas, Kentucky, Florida State, and others.
At 6-foot-0, 200 pounds Latimer is listed as the No. 158 overall prospect and No. 14 running back in the country, according to On3. He’s also the No. 20 recruit in Georgia.
