Move Over Rice Krispies Treats, This 3-Ingredient Dessert Just Stole the Show

There is no denying that Rice Krispies Treats are a classic, simple, favorite treat of kids and adults alike. Whether they come in their original three-ingredient form, or they're gussied up with Funfetti, seasoned with a pinch of pumpkin pie spice, or mixed with luscious salted caramel, they are always a hit.There’s a new three-ingredient cereal treat that’s getting a lot of attention right now, and may we be so bold as to say, they may actually be better than the OG Rice Krispies treats. Or, at least, an alternative to the cereal, butter, and marshmallow treat that’s greater than the sum of its parts.3-Ingredient Corn Flakes BrittleLike Rice Krispies Treats, Corn Flakes Brittle has just three ingredients, but butter is the only one they have in common. This recipe, shared by melies_kitchen on Instagram, uses Corn Flakes cereal (the Kellogg’s brand or a store brand), brown sugar, and melted butter (plus sea salt), mixed together and then baked until golden brown and caramelized. There’s the option to dip the pieces into melted chocolate and allow them to cool, which will take the cereal brittle over the top. However, even without the chocolate, these treats are so good that some of the commentators say they have “made them twice in two days” and are “the most delicious thing I've ever tasted and I'll have to have it at least 3 times a week.”How to Make Corn Flakes Brittle To make these treats, you’ll need:3 cups Corn Flakes cereal8 1/2 tablespoons butter1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar1 teaspoon flaky sea salt (or kosher salt)Watch the video and read the Instagram caption for step-by-step instructions, but in a nutshell, you’ll cook the butter and brown sugar on the stovetop until it’s melted and glossy and the sugar has dissolved, then stir in the salt. Then, you’ll add the butter mixture to the cornflakes and spread it out on a prepared baking sheet. Pop it into a 350-degree F oven for 10 to 12 minutes, allow it to cool, then break it apart.
