Gout has now been likened to another Aussie athletics icon by sports broadcaster Bruce McAvaney.
According to McAvaney, the 16-year-old has created a level of excitement similar to Olympic champion Cathy Freeman.
He told Code Sports: "Has there been anyone more exciting? Freeman was but he’s at a more mature stage than Cathy was at 16 in terms of what he is doing.
"We have never had anyone quite like him and the potential is unique within this country I think."

Freeman won her first of four Commonwealth Games gold medals aged 16 and later became a two-time world champion.
She also won 400m gold on home soil at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
The medal followed the silver she had won in Atlanta four years earlier.
Freeman, who competed also competed in the 100m, 200m and relay events, remains the ninth-fastest woman of all-time with a 400m personal best of 48.63 seconds.
Meanwhile, Gout made headlines by winning silver in the 200m at the Under-20 World Championships in Peru earlier this year.
As well as smashing multiple national and Oceanic records for his age, he clocked a quicker time than a 15-year-old Bolt at the same championships back in 2002.

Bolt clocked a time of 20.61 seconds to take gold on home soil in Kingston 22 years ago.
However, Gout crossed the line one hundredth of a second faster in the final at 20.60 seconds to set a new under-18 continental record.
The sprinting prodigy later went even quicker to break the under-20 continental record in Brisbane earlier this month in 20.29 seconds.
He has since signed a sponsorship deal with Adidas and trained with Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles.
Gout's incredible rise has all come before the youngster turns 17 next month.
