‘Always check your receipt,’ urges Walmart shopper ‘charged twice for same item’ – and says he didn’t even get apology
ONE furious Walmart customer recently aired his annoyance on social media about a recent shopping experience.
In a tweet to X/Twitter, Peek outlined two critical lessons he learned during a routine trip to Walmart.

“Learned two important lessons shopping at @Walmart today,” Peek tweeted on Saturday.
“First, always check your receipt,” he wrote. “Was charged twice for [the] same item.
“Secondly, when you shop for lower prices, you cannot also expect courtesy.
“No apologies, just ‘it’ll go back on your card,'” Peek concluded.
In a world where self-checkout lanes are becoming the norm, and human oversight is minimized, Peek is right to say that customers must take on the responsibility of ensuring their transactions are accurate.
Double-checking receipts, while time-consuming, can save consumers from unwarranted charges and the subsequent hassle of seeking refunds.
EYE ON YOUR CHARGES
Peek is not the only Walmart shopper who has run into the snag of getting overcharged for their items.
In a Facebook post, Jeff Duncan, a 62-year-old resident of Aurora, Illinois, recounted an occurrence at a Walmart in Batavia.
During his shopping trip, he discovered that the store had mistakenly charged him $28.62 for a six-pack of Reli On Diabetic Care Vanilla shakes, which is the price for a 24-pack.
“Well, I’ve had it,” he wrote in his post before recounting the incident.
“They refunded my money, and said they’d look into it,” Duncan told The U.S. Sun.
Duncan told The U.S. Sun that this pricing error has occurred at various Walmart locations, including both the Batavia and Aurora stores.
“The first time they handed me a gift card with no explanation,” he told The U.S. Sun. “It seemed very hush-hush.
“The second time, the kid [cashier] caught it before he finished ringing me up. The third [and fourth] time they refunded my money, and said they’ll look into it.”

Earlier this month, he also reported being charged incorrectly for Friskies Lil Gravies pouches at Walmart.
He said two pouches were priced at $1.28 each, while another rang up at $15.04.
In a Facebook post on June 7, he expressed frustration over these discrepancies, stating that the total overcharge amounted to $13.26.
Duncan emphasized the importance of vigilant shopping, noting that catching these mistakes can make grocery trips less painful.
Reflecting on his experiences, Duncan highlighted that he has received over $100 back in refunds in just one month alone.
He raised the question of potential savings for a family of four under similar circumstances.
Despite the ongoing challenge of monitoring charges, Duncan continues to shop at Walmart.
However, he stressed the necessity of reviewing receipts immediately after purchase to ensure accuracy.
The U.S. Sun reached out to Walmart regarding this incident.
Meanwhile, an infuriated customer criticized Walmart for operating only half of its registers.
And another Walmart shopper was left furious after waiting nearly half an hour for a simple request.
