Corey’s Prediction for Florida’s 2025 Recruiting Class: 1.0
As it stands today, the Florida Gators’ 2025 class features five prospects and ranks 21st with On3.
All but one reside in the Sunshine State, while wide receiver Josiah Abdullah resides in Atlanta. The state of Florida should be heavily featured when it’s all said and done.
Also, some spots will be be filled by players from the transfer portal. There is a different level of uncertainty during the NIL era, so the board is fluid at this time of year.
Based on my projections, additional offers might need to be extended at some point.
Below are my class projections ahead of official visit season.
Offensive Commits
Quarterback: Antwann Hill, (Houston County (Ga.) Warner Robins)
Running Back: Waltez Clark, (Tampa (Fla.) Plant) and Chad Gasper, (Fulshear (Texas) Katy Jordan)
Wide Receiver: Vernell Brown III, (Orlando (Fla.) Jones), CJ Ingram, (Hawthorne (Fla.) High), Josiah Abdullah, (Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy) and Tyler Williams (Riverview (Fla.) Sumner)
Offensive Line: Ziyare Addison (Riverview (Fla.) Sumner) and Taren Hedrick, (Naples (Fla.) Community School of Naples)
Tight End: Hollis Davidson, Peachtree City (Ga.) McIntosh and Tae’Shaun Gelsey, (Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside)
Defensive Commits
Defensive Line: Jalen Wiggins, (Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards), Jarquez Carter, (Newberry (Fla.) High) and Jeramiah McCloud, (Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County)
EDGE: Romando Johnson, (Pompano Beach (Fla.) Monarch)
Linebacker: Christian Gass, (Covington (Ga.) Eastside)
Cornerback: Antonio Branch, (Miami Northwestern) and George Mullins (Bushnell (Fla.) South Sumter)
Safety: Bryce Fitzgerald (Miami Columbus) and Kaylib Singleton, (Fleming Island (Fla.) High)
Notes on Corey’s Mock Class: 1.0
Keep in mind: Florida has the most difficult 2024 schedule in college football. That is largely why I left USC safety commit Hylton Stubbs off the list. He wants to see consistency and winning from Florida. I expect the Gators sign more than one prospect at EDGE and linebacker; however, I don’t see any of the additional targets choosing Florida right now. That is where the transfer portal should help.
Four-star quarterback Antwann Hill takes an official visit this weekend. Communication has been so/so over the past month, but I could see the Gators turning up the heat again. SMU commit Keelon Russell and Florida State commit Tramell Jones are others to monitor; however, Hill might be most realistic due to where the board could be a few months from now.
I’m keeping a close eye on 4-star safety Bryce Fitzgerald right now. Official visits are booked with Florida and USC, with the Gators being his childhood-favorite program. The Trojans obviously have Stubbs in the class as well, so that bodes well for Florida. The Gators have a real opportunity with the Miami native.
Cornerback is where it gets pretty dicey. Most of you probably don’t know who George Mullins is, but he’s a 6-foot-2 cornerback being heavily evaluated by the staff. He recently made his way to Gainesville and received a school visit from Will Harris. Bushnell is only an hour away from the Swamp, so I expect to hear his name more as the board starts to go through changes.
As for tight end, I could see Russ Callaway possibly signing two. I’m fairly close to submitting an RPM prediction for Jacksonville native Tae’Shaun Gelsey, while former Auburn commit Hollis Davidson shares plenty of mutual interest with Florida too. Don’t forget about Micah Jones either, so the Gators could end up having a decision to make.
Stay tuned to Gators Online.
