10 QUESTIONS: Julian Lewis, Husan Longstreet, Nick Brooks, Madden Faraimo, Ty Jackson, Nate Owusu-Boateng, Impact USC Freshmen + More

On Tuesday night (8/6), our WeAreSC Subscribers submitted questions for THE LATEST edition of the USC Trojans Football AND Recruiting Q&A.
This is a feature we do weekly throughout the USC football season and will continue up until the February 2025 signing period. All questions were submitted on our “WeAreSC Members Only” Forum.
WEARESC SUBSCRIBER QUESTIONS
Can you provide any details on Steve Wiltfong’s “USC will work finally wrap up the recruitment of prized On3 Industry five-star quarterback Julian Lewis this week. We’ll see what happens if things don’t get finalized as the Trojans have had dialogue with Texas A&M quarterback commit and local target Husan Longstreet.” More on USC flirting with Longstreet here.”
USC would like to get Julian Lewis to publicly shut down his recruitment prior to the season. The Lewises are aware of this and based off conversations I had yesterday, that may be coming soon. But until it does, the daily drama will continue.
You have USC fans wondering what’s up, you Colorado fans thinking they’re getting him and now 247 is claiming Lewis will likely end up at Indiana. We’re getting as accurate a perspective on this topic as anyone, because it’s not just coming from program sources.
Think about this for a minute though. Lewis has remained committed after three key decommitments and a pretty rough patch with recruiting for USC. Top that off with Carde Smith, Shamar Arnoux, Jadon Perlotte and now Dee Reddick committing to the Trojans. Julian definitely had an impact with those guys and their pledges to the Trojans. Those aren’t the outcomes with a kid deeply wavering with his commitment.
And I get the speculation can all end, at least for the most part, with a public statement. They also know USC will get extremely impatient the next few weeks, but USC is where Julian plans to be in January as of August 13. Was just told that yesterday. Lewis is also Riley’s clear top option.
Julian Lewis or Husan Longstreet, who would you pick?
I’m not gonna get into a Julian Lewis vs Husan Longstreet debate, because you can’t lose either way. What I can offer based off feedback is this, Julian is the top option for Lincoln Riley and USC.
I would’ve pursued Longstreet from the get go, because he’s a local kid and I believe there’s value in adding as many kids from SoCal to the USC roster as possible.
Scott, during BIG media days, Dan Lanning said their recruiting success was not just because of Phil Knight. He mentioned they visited over 300 hundred high schools and ran over 20 satellite camps. How many schools does USC visit every year and do we ever run these satellite camps (I thought these were banned)? I know NIL is the number one cause for their recruiting effort, but is their staff straight up out working USC as well?
USC did not do any Satellite camps in June, preferring to host recruits at their on campus events instead. Somehow Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas and other top programs manage to operate the same way and succeed with recruiting.
As far as high school visits from December thru May 31, USC visited an extremely large number of schools. Don’t have an exact number, but it’s a lot. USC isn’t being outworked with recruiting if that’s what you’re asking.
Did Brak Aoki return to SC as QB Analyst? If so, he’s not shown on the website roster…
Yes, Brad Aoki is currently an offensive analyst at USC. Have no idea about roster listings though.
Of the Freshman offensive and defensive lineman, which one do you think will make the biggest impact this upcoming season?
Elijah Paige on offense and Kameryn Fountain on defense. Not sure any of the freshmen defensive linemen will make what’s considered a huge impact, but we hope to learn more about that possibility this week.
USC vs LSU prediction as of today...
I predict a USC victory, because it’s in my best interest to do that on August 12 lol
Besides Nick Brooks, Philip Bell, Madden Faraimo and Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng who have USC in their top 2-3, who else have us as near or top favorites you can see sign with USC?
Right now that’s about the list, but I’d include OL Malachi Goodman, WR Jerome Myles and LB Ty Jackson to the list as well. We won’t start adding names to follow until a bit later this month. There will likely be names added to the follow list as the 2024 prep season progresses too.
It’s USC vs Texas for Brooks, USC vs Ohio State for Bell, USC, Michigan and Notre Dame for Owusu-Boateng, it’s USC, Notre Dame, Texas and Washington for Faraimo, Jackson and Myles will likely officially visit in September and USC is among the top three for Goodman. So, the Trojans still have a strong shot at several elite ballers.
Are we on the verge of Kobe Pepe Mania?
I hope so, but I’ll check on Fall Camp stuff beginning tomorrow. I prefer waiting a couple of weeks to get perspective from USC sources. We get what the coaches say after practices once a week, but there’s always another perspective gained from private conversations.
Although I like the current 2025 WR commitments, none of the three verbal commits rank higher than No. 25..When Lincoln Riley arrived i thought USC would easily get a couple of top 10 wide receivers yearly..should this be a concern or is it NIL related?
USC has guys committed they really like, that’s all I can confirm. Not sure USC even tried with many five-star wide receiver prospects, and that could definitely be an NIL issue.
Are there any local recruits committed to other schools for the 2025 class who are still considering USC, but are waiting to see how the season unfolds?
It’s not a significant number, because USC really didn’t purse a large number of local guys they missed on, but there’s a very good chances a few local kids committed elsewhere won’t end up with their current school.
Right now all of the guys are focused on their upcoming season, so this will become a hotter topic in September and October. But USC has to play good football, whether winning or losing.
Is Jahkeem Stewart not reclassifying anymore? Seems like it would’ve already been announced.
Don’t assume the timing matters with this topic. My belief is Jahkeem Stewart likely will.
Hope I’m not too late, but I see Christian Garret decommitted from Georgia, are we still pursuing?
I have not heard anything on Christian Garrett. If I do, we’ll definitely share what we learn.
