“Blacklisted” by Nike, Jaylen Brown Makes Demand to 4M People as Olympics Controversy Spirals Out of Control

For Jaylen Brown, the two most prestigious awards from an NBA season weren’t enough. He just proved he can do more. After an unforgettable NBA campaign, the Celtics ace’s summer turned sour when he wasn’t selected for Team USA. He was quick to pin the blame on Nike. But did he just make a whole track to advance the issue?
Showing his versatility outside the court, Brown’s unique interests found him releasing his debut music track, ‘Just Do It’. Yes, it’s Nike’s infamous tagline and the video even starts with mentioning the swoosh “blacklisted” him from the Paris Olympics. Sharing it across his socials, Jaylen Brown made a plea to his fans, to comment ‘Just Do It’. Maybe it’s his way of making Nike’s catchphrase his own without having to do anything detrimental.

Even though the title makes it seem like Brown might have attacked the sports giants, there was no mention of Nike throughout the song. The tune followed the struggles of Jaylen Brown on and off the court. “Balling ain’t the only thing I know,” is Brown’s most repeated verse from the song.
Can’t say he is wrong though.
The Jaylen Brown and Nike feud
Before 2022, Jaylen Brown endorsed Nike sneakers, proudly wearing them on the court. However, after they dropped Kyrie Irving, the Celtics forward wasn’t happy. As the President of the NBPA, he spoke out in support of KAI and even began removing the swoosh from the Nike shoes from thereon.
Fast forward to the Olympic selection process, and Jaylen Brown’s name didn’t reflect. To add salt to the wound, Team USA had a second chance but chose to go with his teammate Derrick White. The exclusion infuriated Brown who took to X to publicly call out the brand for keeping him off the star-fueled roster.
Now, after a slight poke in the song, Brown might not be done going after the Swoosh. In an Instagram post from yesterday, the 27-year-old shared images from his practice sessions. A peculiar detail came in front as he was spotted wearing an all-black sneaker with crystal-like features. Many believe it could be his very own signature shoe in the works as Jaylen Brown even reposted the publications that speculated about his sneakers.
This war with Nike might just be personal for Jaylen Brown.
